Help other investors and renters see real rents. We never ask for your name, email or address, and we never show individual submissions; once enough rents come in for a ZIP code, we may publish totals like the median.
Where these numbers come from
- HUD Small Area Fair Market Rent — HUD's ZIP-level estimate of the 40th percentile rent for recent movers, published each fall. Available in 72 metro areas.
- Census ACS median gross rent — the median rent paid in the ZIP, averaged over five years of surveys, so it lags fast-rising markets. Shown with its margin of error; very uncertain estimates are left out.
- HUD Fair Market Rent (county) — the county-wide figure, used as the second point when only one ZIP-level figure exists, or on its own where there are none.
- All figures are gross rent: rent plus tenant-paid utilities. Asking rents for a specific unit can be higher or lower; use this as a sanity check, not an appraisal.
